Konami GB Collection Vol. 3 is a fantastic compilation cartridge released for the Game Boy Color in Europe in May 2000, bringing four of Konami’s classic handheld titles together on a single cart with newly added colour support. The four included games are Pop’n TwinBee — the cheerful cute-’em-up shoot-’em-up known for its golden bell power-up system — Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, a side-scrolling action-adventure where you battle through towns rescuing a kidnapped friend, Bikers (released in North America as Motocross Maniacs), a fun side-scrolling motocross racer across nine courses, and Guttang Gottong, a charming puzzle-arcade title.

For fans of Konami’s legendary back catalogue, this collection is an absolute treat. Pop’n TwinBee offers addictive vertically-scrolling shooter action with upgradeable ships and three-way laser power-ups, while the Mystical Ninja adventure delivers surprisingly deep exploration and puzzle-solving that drew frequent comparisons to early Zelda. Having four quality titles on one cart represented tremendous value, and the added Game Boy Color palette support — while modest — freshens up the look of games that previously ran in monochrome. IGN awarded the collection an 8 out of 10, noting that most of the included games had held up remarkably well.
